2009 Season announcementIt's with great excitement that we announce the HMC's 2009 season. April/May - Eurobeat (Almost Eurovision) Eurobeat is an homage to the Eurovision Song contest, and heralds the dawn of the interactive musical as the audience vote for their favourite competitor. Eurobeat offers everyone in the audience the chance to leap out of the closet and show their true Eurobeat colours! The show is set in Sarajevo, and each audience member will be assigned to one of the ten competing countries as they enter the venue - either with a sticker or branding with a hot iron on the forehead. (It doesn't matter if you are from Prospect or Panorama, tonight you are from the country you're given, so get used to it!) Don't forget - you can't vote for your own country although there is nothing to stop you bribing others. Eurobeat will be produced by the highly regarded team of Ceri Hutton-Horner and Kerreane Sarti, in their first show for the HMC. Information Night will be held on Tuesday 14 October at 7:30pm in the Stirling Community Theatre.
October/November - Pippin Pippin was written by Stephen Schwartz (the writer of Wicked), and originally directed by Broadway superstar, Bob Fosse. The show was very loosely based on the life of Pippin the Hunchback, the son of Charlemagne. It is the story of Prince Pippin's quest to find personal significance. The Leading Player who is blessed with the gift of magic narrates the story. Pippin traverses through the trials of war, love, and politics before finding himself out amongst the peasants - away from the wealth and privilege of royal life. He ends up falling in love with a good widow, Catherine. In the end, the Leading Player tries to convince Pippin to just commit suicide. Pippin resists and decides to spend the rest of his life with Catherine and her young son. Pippin will be produced by David Sinclair, Mark DeLaine and Linda Williams. This will be David's first show since "Hello, Dolly!" in 2000, and Mark and Linda's first show with the HMC. A Message from 'El Presidente' - John DempseyWelcome to the new, updated website for the Hills Musical Company. For our 35th anniversary, it was time to update and keep up with the times. I'm not one for keeping up with technology, but I am constantly amazed at how the internet has transformed the way in which information is not only distributed around the world, but by how fast it is done. My thanks to Matthew Brookes for all the work he has put into doing it and giving it the fresh new look that it needed. I hope you will continue to monitor our website for our future shows as we strive to bring you, our audience more of the top quality and value for money musicals that we have over the last few years. Thanks also to the hard working committee who tirelessly help to get these shows onto the stage. To you our audience, I hope to see you and all your friends at our shows. Monday, 1st September 2008
